🔗 Share this article The Tooth Fairy Story Review: Animated Journey with a Sprinkling of Family-Friendly Preteen Love Story In this animated adventure aimed at tweens, the fairy community focuses on gathering baby teeth of slumbering children and placing treasure beneath where they sleep. Skateboarding youthful nonconformist fairy Van (brought to life by Booboo Stewart) shows little enthusiasm about devoting his life to collecting baby teeth—a feeling that’s completely understandable. He’s only slightly more curious about the financial workings of the situation: the fairies hand over the molars to unseen goblins, who supply gold as payment. However, Van’s interest is piqued when he catches sight of a goblin (voiced by Larkin Bell), who turns out to be not at all the ugly creature he had imagined. A Forbidden Connection and Shared Threat The stage is set for an adventure with a gentle touch of young love (even though it remains very much suitable for younger kids). The goblin and fairy communities are estranged from one another, and nothing fuels the thrill of the forbidden to unite beings together. Both groups as seen here are incredibly similar, yet each holds biased views about the other. The fairies are said to be self-centered types, given to stealing anything they want, while the goblins are reportedly stupid, foul-smelling, and primitive, but are in fact bright and technologically advanced. Naturally, this scenario needs a common enemy to unite against, and this is duly provided by some nasty spiders, with voices by Jon Lovitz and Fran Drescher. There’s no beating about the bush with these guys: they want to eat the goblins and fairies, and they serve as quite savage, if not especially competent, villains. Ideal Viewers and Final Thoughts There aren’t all that many animated films aimed at the kind of audience that is beginning to have first crushes, but are not mature enough for whatever 14-year-olds view these days in lieu of popular teen sagas. If your child falls into this age group, it probably won’t to be their next favorite movie, but it’s a decent choice. A Tooth Fairy Tale arrives in movie theaters in Scotland from 10 October and the rest of the UK from 24 October.
